Hi folks,

I'm going to outline here our plans for the next SoaS release, which is
scheduled for late June and will be a RC.

So. What do you need to know? First of all, our roadmap, which is
located here: http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_on_a_Stick/Roadmap

Well, there are quite some deadlines in it. We need to follow those
precisely, to improve the experience we had during the beta development
cycle. At some points, we'll need to drop unfinished stuff for the
release, if it doesn't work. So far, this is, what needs to be done:

* Go ahead and test the latest snapshot, which you can grab from here:
http://download.sugarlabs.org/soas/snapshots/2/Soas2-200905031329.iso

* Please participate in our hardware effort! It makes life a lot easier
for us devs. You can check the instructions how to submit your hardware
profile here: http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_on_a_Stick/Hardware

* Report which activities work, and which don't.

* List all the activities you want to get included in SoaS on the
roadmap's wiki page, stating that you suggested it!

We need to get all issues in our trac instance on dev.sugarlabs.org. If
you want to get anything fixed (or have an enhancement) in time for the
RC, please file it for the soas_linuxtag milestone, so that it appears
on our screens. This here is the list of tickets, which are currently
tracked for the release candidate: http://tinyurl.com/soas-rc-tickets

There are obviously more reports, but as I said: Add soas_linuxtag, if
needed. This is basically what needs to be done NOW.

We're in a state where we can still influence how the later release will
look like. That is, why it's important for us to get this feedback as
early as possible. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me directly with any
concerns or suggestions regarding this process.

Thanks,
--Sebastian
