I was making a task list for this week and have come up with the following
items. Am I missing anything major? Does anyone have a compelling interest
to help with any of them.
SFC
A list of our pending issues which we will be needing legal help with:
1. Individual Contributor Agreement. We would like to establish a ICA that
balances the openness of FLOSS projects against the protection that well
documented code commits provide.
2. Branding/Trademarks. We are starting to work on establishing the sugar
brand as a mark of excellence in educational software.
3. Bylaws. Does Sugar Labs need to develop formal bylaws or can we leverage
off SFC's bylaws and govern Sugar Labs with formal and informal policies. I
would rather not waste time on Bylaw unless they are necessary.
Membership
How does one become a membership?
Create draft membership policy and submit to IAEP
This is partially blocked by ICA
Partners
We have a number of organizations with whom we could have mutually
beneficial relationship.
Create draft policy Partner policy and submit to IAEP and SFC
Local Support Organizations
We have a number of organizations who are interested in becoming associated
with Sugar Labs as Local support organizations:
Columbia
Peru
Pakistan
Talk to SFC about what limits membership in the SFC imposes on SL's ability
to create local support organizations. In particular, is it possible for a
LSO to do work-for-hire as 'Sugar Labs - Location'
Start discussion on IAEP about establishing LSOs.
If approved by SFC, start discussion about doing work-for-hire at SL.
Pro- Good source of self sustaining revenue.
Con-Would SL directly engaging in work-for-hire cause a conflict of interest
with our members and partners.
Sugar Camp Schedule.
It looks like SL and OLPC will jointly participate in a Sugar Camp
tentatively set for the Week of Nov 16.
Scott and Micheal have solicited proposals and posted them at
http://www.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugarcamp_proposal
I would also like to propose that Sugar Labs sets aside a block to discuss
strategic planning.
To do list for the French code camp
5 new developers working on Sugar for 5 days.
Benefits of creating activities.
How do we engage developers in creating activities for Sugar?
