I still remain in the "let's do it when it's becoming necessary" camp.  
Currently mirrors provide few benefits at non-trivial administration  
cost.

It's ideally suited network-wise, but not disk-wise:

     Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
     /dev/md0               68G   25G   43G  37% /

The machine was never designed or intended to be a bulk storage  
system. The disks are very fast and highly redundant, but small. If  
people really think that this particular mirror makes sense -- keep in  
mind that _network_ problems affecting download.l.o will affect this  
machine as well, so the redundancy is against server or administration  
failures -- we can purchase an external disk for it. Since solarsail  
is the bottommost machine in the rack, there just happens to be enough  
space to throw in a disk enclosure.
