It raises questions about culture itself not being static and deployment having the potential to both preserve and alter/destroy culture. Sugar is definitely not culturally neutral. It could link to the philosophy of the waveplace pilot www.waveplace.com and to http://learningevolves.wikispaces.com/indigenous

I find it difficult to navigate the wiki, am I missing something or is the navigation not set up? Where is the education section? Cultural preservation belongs somewhere in there with the higher level education goals?
