I have invited the highly respected founder of the Fantsuam Foundation
in Nigeria, John Dada, to XOCamp and to the It's An Education Project
mailing list. He will need funding to travel. I'll see what I can do,
and I hope others can help.

Dear Edward
Our training program had taken on the challenge of training pre school
children and children up to 18 years,
http://cicelyinnigeria.blogspot.com/2008_12_07_archive.html and we are
doing this within the context of "Keep The Children Safe", a holistic
Child Protection Program.
We will therefore be keen to participate in this collaboration with
Earth Treasury.
As you may be aware, I live and work from the village of Kafanchan.
While I can obtain permission from my organization to attend the
XOCamp2 meeting, I will need help with cost of travel - is this
something within your budget? Otherwise, I will be happy to be kept in
the loop of discussions and post-meeting implementation plans.
Thanks

Earth Treasury has initiated a digital textbook project with a number
of high-powered partners. We propose to rework the common subjects and
curricula using Free Software capabilities throughout, and drawing on
the latest research in child development and education more broadly. I
know that your organization mainly teaches older students, but I
wonder whether you and Fantsuam Foundation in general would like to
join our project. We feel the need for advice from those with
experience in what is really needed for development.

We are also inviting University of Education, Winneba, Ghana, and have
plans to extend membership further.

As I have mentioned to you before, our full campaign will include OLPC
XOs or other free computers for school and home, Free Software,
digital textbooks, electricity and Internet out to th villages, and
international microfinance. I owe you an e-mail on the microfinance
idea, and on the ecoomics of the entire program. I am collecting
literature on the economics of Free Software. The subject is still
quite thin, but I hope that we all can do something about that, too.

I am inviting members of our consortium to meet together for the first
time at XOCamp2 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, January 12-17, 2009. Is
there any chance you could attend, or send somebody?
