Subject: I need K-12 Math Teachers!
I'm wondering if I could impose upon you? I need to get in touch with
K-12 teachers who could volunteer some time over the summer to help
create 4th Grade Math activities for the One Laptop Per Child XO Laptop.

The start of our project is at http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Math4Team
and I'd be happy to give an on-site presentation if needed. (photos from
my presentation at Ithaca College EdTech day -

In the grand scheme of things, we're creating a text book replacement
that would take into account the dynamic nature of technology. Meaning
we can create main-stream activities as well as activities that may only
appeal to children with certain learning styles.

While we seem to have software developers coming on board at a fairly
rapid rate, we'd like each team to have two professional educators to
guide their work.

This is where I'm struggling. I know lots and lots of software
developers, but very few teachers in Western NY. Do you know of anyone
I should try to make contact with? Associations? Anyone you could
forward this email to?

The collaboration would take place online and through email and would
only be as demanding as the volunteers choose. However, volunteers who
can commit at least 1 hour per week to an assigned team will be given an
XO laptop (http://laptop.org/en/laptop/). After all, the idea is to
create activities that work well on the XO, so it's important that the
volunteers can use the machine hands-on.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
~Karlie
