Fred:
I was thinking about that, but sorta like the idea that the XOs take up
the whole screen. Of course I can change it so the sliders are on the
x and y. I'll throw together something for the continuous, and then
throw a toggle between continuous and discrete mode.

Mel:
I'll repo it later. I don't see a scrawled over jpeg. Unfortunately it isn't my hack. I like the idea for an interactive mode, the idea really hadn't crossed my mind.
For a fast mockup and relearning of pygtk, I'm impressed. Clever hack!

An easy "double utility!" tweak would be "divide mode" - see
scrawled-over jpeg attached.

Interactive mode - have the top ask "4*3= ?" with a blank space to type
the answer, kids can use the sliders to help them find the correct
answer to give. Maybe save scores as a function of time (15 questions
beat the clock) which would make an easy measure of progress and
collaborative competition.

I'll try it with small cousin this weekend - she can add and recently
started grasping the "repeated addition" thing, but hasn't really
understood multiplication as a separate idea as far as we can tell. If
she comes up with feature ideas, we'll see how fast I can remember pygtk.
