Spawn a background thread at laptop startup during loading of home-window. This thread auto-checks for available activity-updates at regular intervals (currently defaults to an interval of 7 days). 2. To prevent a collision with the user-interactive "Software Update", synchronization in the form of mutual exclusion is used. The above approach has been taken from the "Feedback" feature in frame (source == source/sugar/src/jarabe/model/feedback_collector.py) 2. Is this the right approach?
