I just noticed that dsd is also thinking of switching to WebKit:

However, his proposal is a little bit more radical than our plan to add
whatever features are missing in Surf and ship it. It's almost a
rewrite, moving to GTK3 & PyGI, which requires Sugar (or at least
sugar-toolkit) to be ported as well.

Shall we attempt to do something less ambitious for the DX12 release?
