New description:

 Ensure there is at least one entry in the journal, open the journal, hover
 the mouse over the entry icon, allow time for the journal entry palette to
 pop up, press Escape to dismiss and press F3 to return to the home view.

 Expected result: home view, nothing else.

 Observed result: home view, then the journal entry palette re-appears.

 Also, moving the mouse out of the entry icon does not pop down the
 palette.
