 The standard ctrl-q shortcut for stop is ignored when the "Maze solved!"
 dialog is visible.  The dialog might be modal.

 Workaround is to press space then ctrl-q.

 Seen with Maze-26 on Ubuntu 14.04.2, and OLPC OS 13.2.4 and 14.1.0.
