Currently, opening a new instance of an arbitrary activity involves the
 following steps:

 * Go to the List View
 * Press a key or use a mouse to focus the search bar
 * Type the name of the activity to launch
 * Click on the activity's icon once it appears

It would be very useful to have a way to launch an activity in fewer
steps. I suggest using the search button, which currently has the same
purpose as the Journal button, to bring up a dialog where one can type in
the name of the activity and launch it by pressing enter (an equivalent of
how one can launch an application with Alt-F2 in GNU/Linux desktop
distributions). This would be an improvement over the four-step process
 described above.
