Comment (by walter):

 I submitted a pull request [1] for a refactoring of the background section
 so that it doesn't block on loading. Checked all the other sections and
 all of them seem to load quickly enough as to not warrant any changes. I
 think we are OK to close this ticket if/when the pull request is merged.
