 Ok, I think there are two different approaches to the issue:

 - bring back the SetProperties interface for the channel

 - use the new Channel_Interface_Room_Config1 dbus interface

 I looked at the changes that are around
 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/telepathy/telepathy-
 gabble/commit/?id=59ee55354fee1a9425790886ea98f342340e390b and related and
 they are quite large. Probably not something we can do.

 For using the Channel.Interface.RoomConfig1 interface we have to change
 telepathy-python so that we can access it. If you look at
 '/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/telepathy/_generated/interfaces.py' you
 can see the generated interfaces.

 I would ask upstream what they think about it as well. And don't get
 distracted by 'did you try master' answers :)
