Comment:

 Eben once told me that the idea was, when the battery is charging, it
 isn't being used by the user to power his laptop.

 no battery = no icon
 battery is charging = white icon
 battery is powering laptop = color icon

 A quick fix would be to add the charging badge to the battery when
 charging.
