Comment:

 I too saw this red message on the first attempts to edit the user page of
 a new OpenID account (based on Google) yesterday.  When I returned today
 (in a new session) there was no red message.

 Inquiry to the MediaWiki:Extension:OpenID maintainer,
 [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Thread:Extension_talk:OpenID/First_attempt_to_edit_new_user_page_shows_red_message_"_User_id_is_not_registered"],
 suggests that the problem may be in our configuration.

 Perhaps there is an interaction with Bad Behavior or another component
 that causes this.
