 The more appropriate way might be looking how to make existing software
 useful in Sugar (and keep chat as an example of simple IM for Sugar to let
 newbies experiment with its sources).

 This makes sense to me. I agree with you: "keep the activity simple and
 useful"

 Maybe this ticket could be closed as "wontfix" by this reason.
