 Right now we handle the following file paths:

 - plugins
 - images
 - samples

 All of our path related logic assumes we are running from the root of our
 source code directory.

 This will probably not be the case in the future if we decide to change
 our packaging scheme (which we'll probably do to support our Gnome front-
 end).

 We need to generalize the way we handle paths so that we can either set
 them via a config file or via env variables instead of depending on
 assumptions.
