 There are two issues to this:

 - traceback: [http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/10776 OLPC 10776] (Python 2.7
 switched from using httplib.HTTP to using httplib.HTTPConnection)

 - no feedback: [http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/10678 OLPC 10678] (introduced
 by #1742)
