New description:

I tried copying a large (200 MB+) file in Sugar's journal from a USB stick
to other flash memory (another USB stick on one system, and an XO's SD
card on another). There was no progress indication or busy indication in
Sugar that the file was copying apart from the fact that the item appeared
after copying complete. Erasing the file took a few seconds to show as
 well on lower powered hardware.

If possible we should at least show the busy cursor during file operations
on/between media devices, if not a progress meter for longer operations.

Tested on OLPC/Sugar 0.84 as well as a SoaS 0.90/F14 October 25 build.
