 By supporting the [http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications
 /systemtray-spec freedesktop.org System Tray Protocol] we allow applets
 using a [http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/GtkStatusIcon.html
 GtkStatusIcon] to be used with Sugar.

 For example it allows users to run nm-applet, the Gnome GUI to
 NetworkManager, to configure "advanced" network settings like VPNs that
 are currently unsupported by Sugar.

 The lower edge of the frame would be a natural fit for the applet icons
 IMO.
