Comment:

 Looks like its a gtk issue, I've got the same error in pygtk-demo after
 setting ellipsize property to non pango.ELLIPSIZE_NONE.
 I tried several themes - the same result like on attached screenshot.

 So, we could use workaround to disable focus border for GtkTreeView.
