Comment:

 This has been the case for a long time. When you launch a new version of
 Turtle Art for the first time, I copy the most recent version of the
 sample Python code into the journal for your hacking pleasure. I believe
 that this is where sample code belongs, but if there is an alternative
 suggestion, I am happy to consider it. (I am considering copying all of
 the Turtle Art examples into the Journal as well, rather than carrying
 them around in the file system.)

 Not sure why you consider the entry "strange".
