 in .Xclients I do:

 {{{
 xsetroot -def

 export SALUT_DEBUG=all

 eval $(dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session)

 }}}

 The variable is exported fine when I check in the terminal session. But
 there are no salut logs been written.
