 this is not a new feature, but a regression.

 I agree that with server-mediated cases (which would be a new feature,
 never implemented before in Sugar) something like a JEB makes more sense
 (for example, the XS serves JEBs when relevant). I do think JEBs or a
 unified bundle format has a big role to play.

 But that is a separate discussion -- we're dealing with a regression on a
 widely used functionality.
